The Big Red One(1980)

Director: Samuel Fuller
Considered one of the best war world 2 movies ever made, is, in fact, an anti-war movie. The storyline begins with the first world war, and presents the conditions after which the Division The Big Red One got it's name, and continues with Sergeant's (played by Lee Marvin) squad in it's way to North Africa to fight the Axis, and it ends with the post-war era.
It depicts the cruel reality and the madness of war and human boundaries pushed to the maximum.
