In "Das Boot", Jürgen Prochnow has a great acting performance in the role of Captain Henrich Lehmann-Willenbrock. The character he plays is captain on a german u-boat and have to deal with all kinds of extreme situations and extreme manifestations of the human condition: allied well protected convoys, indoctrinated nazi crew members, fatal decisions of the navy commanders, diving at great deepness, insubordination, malfunctions.
All odds seem to be against the brave captain and he has to decide between obeying the irrational orders of his commanders and the safety of his crew.
Will the experienced captain succed to acomplish his mision?
